First of the Month Photo

May 1st photo. Doesn't look like much, but here is the field. I think it looks beautiful. For all those of you who saw the field over the winter, you will notice that the weeds (those waist-high weeds that grew during my farming hiatus) are gone. Well, most of them....

There is a LOT of borage volunteers, which is great because it's bringing in the bees. The garlic is almost ready to harvest. There are a few rows of fava beans growing. In the back is lettuce, fennel, chard and kale. The beets and carrots are just starting to show their heads. And the row that is covered is planted in beans. I'm keeping the cover on until they have grown big enough so they are no longer attractive to the crows.
