Prepping the Field For Planting

This weekend we began prepping the field for this Saturday's planting. It was PERFECT working weather, just like Goldilocks. Not too hot, not too cold.

We had about three tons of compost and aged cow manure that needed to be spread.

First we measured the field to determine the planting perimeter. Once that was established, The Lovey got aboard the tractor and began 'tractering'.

He shoveled the compost into the mule (I can actually say that my husband shoveled the sh*t).

I took the load to an area of the field and spread it.

Of course, it didn't work as well as a manure spreader, but it worked well enough.

At the end of the work day, we were treated to another great Seven Cats Farm sunset.

Next step, incorporating it into the soil and making the rows.
